Fantastic shibori (tie-dye) cloud of bats for this deep purple kimono, paired with a wisteria patterned obi. I also love the matching shibori obiage!

A colorful bento for takeout! The strawberries were a great surprise. The big compartment contains marinated hijiki seaweed (the black stuff), a miso egg, and some seasonal simmered veggies etc.: taro, carrot, daikon, young bamboo, kabocha squash, soft tofu, and a ganmodoki tofu fritter. The noodly stuff is sweet & sour shirataki konnyaku with cabbage, onion, and pineapple, which is kind of unusual (but not bad). Finally, a crab cream croquette with cabbage, steamed broccoli, and tomato. Nice variety and color!

NOW is the perfect time to pause and reflect as the week continues. Grab your journal and take 10 minutes to explore this question:
💭 “Where in my life can I show up more authentically? Where can I be of service to others without losing myself?”
Growth isn’t just about personal wins—it’s about how we uplift our communities while staying true to who we are. Let this question guide your actions this week.

Went to this super cute restaurant after work. It’s on the top floor of Bal in Kyoto ☕️
I moved to Kyoto a few months ago, and I have so much time on my hands, I ended up reading 15 books since then.
Other than textbooks, I haven’t read 15 books for fun since I was in high school. So I’ve fallen back in love with fictional worlds

The 3rd of February, Risshun 立春 in Japanese, signifies the beginning of spring in East Asian cultures. To celebrate, here are four images from Studio Ghibli. [x]

Cute springtime pattern for this antique kimono depicting young chicks, just freed from their bamboo basket, frolicking under falling cherry blossoms petals.

From a while back, but look at this sakura flavored steamed bread! No azuki or sakura-an filling, just bread all the way through, which was surprising, but it was sweet and fluffy and dense and tasty! And frankly unparalleled in terms of ability to satisfy the childhood desire to nibble on that fiberglass insulation in your parents’ attic. Yum.
